For each freshly sprouted culm, Js is also displayed for the neighboring established culm and the connecting rhizome. Gray background indicates nighttime (18:00 to 6:00). Due to sensor malfunctioning, rhizome data for culm pair three is missing and thus not shown in panels B,C.
