Dorsal mesenchymal protrusion in a lizard. (A) In the embryonic green anole lizard (Anolis carolinensis, Sanger (Sanger et al., 2008) stage 7), Ils1 is expressed in the dorsal mesenchymal protrusion (negative for the sarcomeric protein tnnt2, save a few noticeable specks) on the left of which is the pulmonary vein (pv) as in mammals.
