Note the strong expression of AR in the corpus cavernosum (CC), corpus spongiosum, glans penis and prostate. S100-reactive nerves were detected in the prostate (F), the penile shaft (E) and the penile glans. α−Actin and SM-MHC2, markers of smooth muscle, were detected in the penis, the urethra and bladder (G–L). Uroplakin is seen in epithelia of the urethra and bladder (M-O). PL = preputial lamina.
