Combined antibiotic therapy (n = 72) with daptomycin (DAP), doxycycline (DOX), and ceftriaxone (CRO) significantly improved survival compared to that with CRO monotherapy (n = 71) during acute PM (A). Relative weight change during acute PM indicates reduced weight gain in infected (PM+) compared to that of mock-infected (PM−) animals (n = 6 per treatment group). Infected animals with combined-adjuvant therapy presented significantly increased weight at 42 hpi compared to that of animals receiving CRO monotherapy (B).
