RFX is more potent than TOB for inhibition of alginate production of laboratory and CF sputum isolates of P. aeruginosa. Alginate production for nonmucoid reference strain PAO1 (A), PAO581 (PAO1mucA25) (B), and stable mucoid clinical isolates CF001 (C) and CF010 (D) when grown on PIA at 37°C for 24 h with increasing concentrations of RFX or TOB according to the predetermined MIC.
