Different chiralities of rotating and revolving motors. Rotating biomotors exhibit right-handed chirality to drive the right-handed dsDNA similar to the nut driving the bolt or the screw driver turning the screw, whereas revolving biomotors exhibit left-handed chirality within the channel. Crystal structure analysis of viral DNA packaging motors reveals that this class of biomotors package DNA using the revolving mechanism. Reprinted with permission from ref (5).
