Body pattern components on the mantle are controlled more ipsilaterally within the optic lobe, whereas those on the head and arms are controlled more bilaterally. The lateralization index is used to assess the symmetry of body pattern component expression upon electrical stimulation in the optic lobe. Positive indices indicate ipsilateral dominance, and negative indices show contralateral dominance. Expression of body pattern components on the mantle showed significant ipsilateral control, whereas those on the head and arms showed more bilateral controlled.
