(a) Immunofluorescence analysis of CD44 expression induced by ESWT, HA and PRP was performed as described above. Immunolabeling with anti-CD44 (green) was achieved on cell cultures after ESW, HA and PRP exposure. Nuclei are stained with DAPI. Photomicrographs are representative of one single culture. Bar 20 μm. CD44 mRNA transcript levels after ESWT, HA and PRP were quantitated by real-time RT PCR. Results reported in the graph were obtained from four different cultures and represent the mean values ±SE obtained from three independent experiments. Student’s t-test was calculated to evaluate significant differences: values as p<0.001 (**) and p<0.05 (*) were considered statistically significant vs the corresponding untreated.
