The SVZ adult neural stem cells are made during embryogenesis between E13.5 and 15.5 from the same progenitors that make neurons of the embryonic brain. The qRGLs get activated after birth to participate in adult neurogenesis in the SVZ. The RGL of the adult hippocampus arise from the ventral part of the late embryonic lateral ventricle around postnatal day 7-14.
