PDIs plotted against optimal phase alignments (φmax) for all neurons in the sample (N = 28). Simple-type neurons are denoted by red circles and complex-type by blue triangles. Marginal histograms show the distribution of φmax (top) and PDI (right) values within the sample population. φmax ranged from −103.42 to 107.35, with a mean of 6.57°. PDI values ranged from 0.09 to 1.0, with a mean of 0.71, indicating a wide range of relative phase dependencies in different neurons.
