The nondiabetic and diabetic mice exhibited a loss of body weight, while the diabetic mice treated with insulin gained body weight, among mice infected with the (A) PAO1 wild-type strain, (B) PAO1/p_lac-yhjH strain and (C) PAO1ΔwspF strain over the 16 days of the experiment. The mice were weighed every 4 days, and the percent change in body weight was calculated by the following equation: (W_t-W₀)/W₀ × 100, where W_t was the weight on the day of observation, and W₀ was the weight on the day of surgery. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the Tukey-Kramer multiple comparison test was used to determine the differences between groups. Note: *P < 0.05 compared with the nondiabetic group, **P < 0.01 compared with the nondiabetic group, ΔP < 0.05 compared with the diabetic group, ΔΔP < 0.01 compared with the diabetic group.
