Context-dependent learning setup. A bee harnessed vertically in a tube was placed into a holder facing a white curved reflective paper, with two holes in it, one for the outlet of an olfactometer delivering odors to the antennae of the bee, and the other for the outlet of hot or cold air. An exhaust behind the bee continuously removed odors. The white reflective paper was illuminated with the help of two light guides that were attached to a lamp with a switchable color-filter assembly to change colors.
