DGLA modulates the bioenergetic profile of human macrophages.

THP-1 macrophages were treated with 50 μM DGLA (+) or vehicle (−) for 24 h. Parameters of mitochondrial respiration were analyzed using the Seahorse XF^e96 analyzer. Readouts included: Basal respiration (A); ATP-linked respiration (B); proton leak (C); non mitochondrial respiration (D); maximal respiration (E); spare respiratory capacity (F) and coupling efficiency (G). Graphs represent mean ± SEM from three independent experiments. Statistical analysis was carried out using an unpaired Student's t-test (*, p ≤ 0.05; ***, p ≤ 0.001). A trace from a representative experiment carried out in triplicate is shown in panel H.
