PA localization in ribbon synapses: control transfections. In contrast to wild-type PA-sensor protein (Fig. 3), PA-binding mutant sensor proteins (TAPAS-1(WW19,20DD)-EGFP; (A–C) or TAPAS-1(WW19,20AA)-EGFP; (D–E)) do not colocalize with synaptic ribbons in mouse retinal bipolar cells. This indicates that the previously observed recruitment of TAPAS-1 wild-type protein (Fig. 3) depends on enrichment of PA at the synaptic ribbons and demonstrates the specificity of the PA-sensor recruitment to synaptic ribbons (Fig. 3).
