Activation of AVPV GABA inputs to GnRH neuron can inhibit or stimulate GnRH neuron excitability. Top shows control condition where the 15 activations generate 7 action potentials. Treatment with CNQX plus AP5 results in increased excitability with all 15 activations generating action potentials with reduced latency variation. Subsequent addition of a GABAA receptor antagonist, gabazine (GBZ) reduces the number of action potentials to one while wash of all drugs brings the cell back to the control state (bottom).
