Effect of repeated SPIO administration on number of sites presenting signal attenuation in male APP23 mice. The same animals were repeatedly measured by MRI at the specified ages, just before and 24 h following SPIO administration. For APP23 mice older than 21 months, some foci of signal loss were detected even 1 or 2 months after the last SPIO administration. Data are given as mean ± SEM.
