mGluR signaling is involved in the effect of glutamate. Schwann cell proliferation was monitored under presence of 1 mm glutamine together with inhibitors of glutamate receptors or transporters (A, B) or different concentrations of t-ACPD (C, D) by BrdU pulse labeling followed by immunocytochemistry using an anti-BrdU antibody. Results from quantitative analyses were performed as described in Fig. 6 and are shown in B and D. Scale bar, 100 μm.
