Concentration variation of selected metabolites over time with respect to two distinct locations close to root tip (channel 1) and root base (channel 2). Isolated metabolite flux was sampled using channel 1 and channel 2 respectively. Error bars represent the standard deviation of three experiments. The mean concentrations for all metabolites except isoleucine show statistically significant differences at the 95% confidence interval for the two sampling locations at the six hour time point. Statistically, except for 5-oxoproline, no significant difference was observed for alanine, isoleucine and sucrose peak areas at time points less than six hours.
