Deletion of vhb1 results in reduced sporulation rates in liquid medium. Conidia from 4‐day‐old cultures, initially inoculated with 10⁶ conidia/mL of each strain, were counted in a Fuchs–Rosenthal haemocytometer. Three replicates of each strain were included in each experiment and five independent experiments were performed.
