Differential gene expression analyses of candidate pathogenicity genes in the mutant compared with the wild‐type strain over 72 h post‐inoculation (hpi). Pcb1692 wild‐type and Pcb1692ΔexpI strains were harvested from inoculated potato tubers at 6, 24 and 72 hpi. The relative expression levels of putative pathogenicity genes and two transcriptional regulators were monitored. Gene expression was normalized using the ffh housekeeping gene as an endogenous control. Values of inoculated potato tubers (time 0) were used as controls for relative gene expression.
