Iron deficiency‐triggered phenotypic modifications in Arabidopsis plants. (A) Growth conditions for +Fe and −Fe plants. Arabidopsis plants were grown for 5 weeks in a 50 µm Fe‐ethylenediaminetetraacetate (Fe‐EDTA)‐containing nutritional solution; the roots were then washed with distilled water or bathophenanthroline disulphonic acid (BPDS) as indicated. Next, plants were transferred to fresh nutritional solution with (+Fe) or without (–Fe) 50 µm Fe‐EDTA for 4 days. (B) Photographs of +Fe and −Fe Arabidopsis plants at the same scale.
