Schematic of SIRT1 and miR-34a-mediated regulatory role in the permissivity of prostate cancer cells to VSVΔM51 replication and oncolysis. HDAC inhibitors upregulate the microRNA miR-34a, which, in turn, negatively regulates the level of SIRT1 and antiapoptotic Bcl2 proteins. SIRT1 inhibition mediates the activation of NF-κB, contributing to the enhancement of VSVΔM51 infection and cancer cell killing.
