NAC treatment alleviated the CS-induced chronic lung inflammation and fibrosis. In mice silicosis model induced by CS, NAC treatment decreased number of inflammatory cells and inhibited pulmonary fibrosis and apoptosis, maybe through repressing the expression of NOX2, iNOS, XO, and attenuating oxidative stress.
