CYR5099 inhibits superoxide anion generation in activated human neutrophils. (A) The chemical structure of CYR5099. Human neutrophils were incubated with DMSO (0.1%, as control) or CYR5099 (1–10 μM) for 5 min and then activated with (B) fMLF (0.1 μM)/CB (1 μg/ml), (C) f-MMYALF (0.3 μM) and CB (1 μg/ml), (D) MMK1 (0.3 μM)/CB (1 μg/ml), (E) m-3M3FBS (15 μM)/CB (1 μg/ml), or (F) PMA (10 nM). Ferricytochrome c reduction was monitored by a spectrophotometer at 550 nm. All data are expressed as mean ± S.E.M. (n = 6 or 8). **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001 compared with activator alone.
