Left ventricular gene expression analysis. LV gene expression of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) did not alter in exercised animals. Expression of β-myosin heavy chain (MHC) mRNA was decreased in exercised female animals, that resulted in an increase of α-MHC/β-MHC ratio, while there was no difference between male exercised and control rats.
