Shown is a general scheme of the molybdenum cofactor (Moco) biosynthesis pathway. With the exception of 3,8 ˙-cH2 GTP (a precursor of cyclic pyranopterin monophosphate, cPMP), known and characterized intermediates of the Moco biosynthesis pathway are shown sequentially. GTP = guanosine triphosphate, MPT = molybdopterin, MPT-AMP = adenylated molybdopterin. The domain structure of Arabidopsis molybdenum insertase Cnx1 is shown and catalyzed reactions are indicated.
