Binocular summation index. Binocular summation was evaluated as the ratio of contrast sensitivity of binocular vision to that of the dominant eye (AULCSF Binocular/AULCSFDE). Blue boxes indicate the data from all subjects in each group, red boxes indicate the data from the subset of amblyopic and strabismic subjects who are able to fuse at the testing distance. “**” and “***” denote statistical significance (two-sided t-test) at the alpha level of 0.01 and 0.001, respectively. SWA subjects who were able to fuse and NSC subjects showed an index significantly greater than 1, i.e., binocular summation.
