Histogram presentation of β-galactosidase specific activities measured in cell-free extracts of E. coli strain FW102 (WT) and its isogenic lrp (lrp::Tn10), argR (∆argR) and double lrp argR (lrp::Tn10 ∆argR) mutants bearing the wild type lrp promoter/operator-lacZ (A) or mutant lrp∆25 promoter/operator-lacZ fusion (B) on a single-copy F’ episome. Cells were grown in minimal medium, when indicated supplemented with l-arginine, l-leucine, or both. Values are the means ± standard deviation of at least three biological replicates. 100% corresponds to the activity measured for each fusion construct introduced in the WT strain and grown on minimal medium (black colored bar).
