Mn(PEG) denotes the PEG molecular weight of the pendant side chains and Mn and Mw denote the number and mass averaged molecular weights of the statistical copolymers, respectively, as determined by light scattering. The molar equivalent of acid groups per gram (meq g–1) of polymer was determined from 1H and 31P NMR, leading to estimates of the number of functionalized groups per chain.
