Notes: Analysis based on 7,625 older adults with dementia and newly diagnosed major depression. At least one potentially inappropriate antidepressant was initiated by 579 (7.59%) older adults in this study sample. Results are based on the χ2 test analysis. For density of neurologists and psychiatrists, the category 0 represents zero neurologists/psychiatrists in the zip code and the categories 1, 2, and 3 represents the first, second, and third tertiles, respectively, of nonzero densities. ACE: angiotensin converting enzyme; ARBs: angiotensin receptor blockers; CCB: calcium channel blockers; ELX: Elixhauser; PPIs: proton pump inhibitors.
