Tanaka et al. (29) subclassified the retrocarotid window in the medial retrocarotid space between the ICA and the PCOA, and the lateral retrocarotid space between the PCOA and the oculomotor nerve, which might be used for the surgical management of BA bifurcation aneurysms.
