Structural elements of the conserved protein kinase domain. The protein kinase domain is defined a bilobal structure that includes the active site in-between. The conserved kinase core has 2 hydrophobic spines, called the R-spine and C-spine, respectively. The activation segment forms the functional region of the kinase domain.
