A, Systemic diltiazem (n = 12) caused impairment of long-term memory (24 h delay) and of retrieval memory (24 h delay), but not of shorter-term memory (20 min delay). B, Systemic nifedipine caused impairment of long-term memory (24 h delay; n = 9) but not of shorter-term memory (20 min delay; n = 10). In the test of retrieval (24 h delay; n = 9), the nifedipine group did not discriminate, but did not differ significantly from the control group (which did discriminate).
