Participants Diagnosis: Major depressive disorder (DSM‐IV). 
 Inclusion criteria: medically healthy. No other Axis I disorders. Multicenter (Wesleyan University, the New York State Psychiatric Institute).
Interventions 1. Bright light (10000 lux). N = 11. 
 2. Negative air ion exposure. N = 9. 
 3. Inactive treatment. N = unknown.
