Participants | Inclusion: Referred to orthopaedic clinics because of painful knee joints. Exclusion: Acute inflammatory arthritis requiring rest, splintage or other therapy; peripheral circulatory deficits; sensory abnormalities; hip or spinal disorder causing pain in or around the knee; metal protheses in or near the knee; sickle‐cell disease or cold agglutinins; obvious psychological disorders.
