Table 2.
Morphological features | Low LG | High LG |
---|---|---|
Dendritic length (basal) (μm) | 331.49 ± 23.11 | 463.25 ± 37.28** |
Dendritic length (apical) (μm) | 1216.79 ± 140.23 | 1570.91 ± 73.46* |
Spine number per 20 μm (basal) | 10.93 ± 0.72 | 13.85 ± 0.85* |
Spine number per 20 μm (apical) | 11.71 ± 0.86 | 16.33 ± 1.42* |
Number of branching point (basal) | 3.22 ± 0.71 | 3.98 ± 0.42 |
Number of branching point (apical) | 12.6 ± 1.46 | 16.02 ± 1.02 |
Morphological features of CA1 dendritic trees are summarized. Note that dendritic length was significantly shorter for both basal and apical dendrites in low versus high LG offspring (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.01). Spine density was also found to be significantly lower in basal as well as apical dendrites in low compared with high LG offspring (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.01).
