CC9/10 stimulation can convert subthreshold input from C2 to suprathreshold in the MCC. A, Stimulation of CC9/10 at 5 Hz for 2 min induced only 3 spikes during the CC9/10 stimulation, and no spikes after the stimulation without C2 stimulation. B, C2 was stimulated at 20Hz for 3 s every 30 s, which elicited slow EPSPs in MCC, but did not trigger spiking. However, when CC9/10 was stimulated at 5 Hz, C2 stimulation was able to elicit spiking in MCC, even after the stimulation of CC9/10 was terminated.
