ACM and MCM prevent MN PCD in ovo. Treatment with 6 μg/ml MCM or 60 μg/ml ACM results in the significant increase in healthy MNs after PCD in ovo (E10). Treatment with MCM resulted in a dose-dependent decrease in MN survival, similar to that seen in vitro. In ovo treatment with ACM also resulted in an increase in the number of healthy MNs, but a higher concentration of ACM was required to achieve this result (60 μg/ml). The numbers in parentheses indicate n for each group (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01; ANOVA with Tukey–Kramer post hoc analysis).
