Figure 6.

Application of E4031 during fictive locomotor patterns evoked by NMDA plus 5HT in the spinal cord isolated from a 19.5-d-old mouse embryo. Left column, 5 μm NMDA plus 10 μm 5-HT induced stable fictive locomotion between homosegmental (L2 or L5) left and right VRs and between related flexor (L2) and extensor (L5) recordings on the same side. Polar plots (left, bottom) show the double alternation and the phase coupling between left L2–L5 and between right and left L5. Right column, Addition of E4031 (1 μm; 10 min) did not affect the characteristics of the locomotor patterns. E4031 did not change the typical double alternation of the fictive locomotor rhythm, as confirmed by the polar plots for homolateral and for homosegmental pairs of VRs (bottom). VRrL5, Right L5 VR; VRlL5, left L5 VR; VRrL2, right L2 VR; VRlL2, left L2 VR.
