Dopamine does not appear to be involved in the tyramine inhibition of 5-HT-dependent responses to dilute octanol. Wild-type animals and mutant animals deficient in dopaminergic signaling were examined for their ability to respond to dilute octanol in the presence or absence of 5-HT, DA, and/or TA, as described in Materials and Methods. Data are presented as mean ± SE (n) and analyzed by a two-tailed Student's t test. ***p < 0.001, significantly different from wild-type animals under identical incubation conditions. The number of trials is indicated under each bar.
