PrP 82–146 peptides are toxic to murine cortical neurons. Cortical cells from mice (E14.5) were treated with PrP 82–126 peptides at the indicated concentrations for 7 d, and the effect on cell viability was determined by MTT assay. Except for PrP 82–146scr, all peptides dose-dependently reduced viability. Data are the mean ± SEM of 18–24 replicates from three to four independent experiments. *p < 0.01 versus control group by Dunnett's test.
