Effect of treatment of PC12 cells with CpB on the interaction with plasminogen. PC12 cells (1 × 107/ml) were incubated with increasing concentrations of CpB for 30 min at 37°C. The cells were washed six times with 1 ml of HBSS/0.1% BSA, and specific binding of 0.2 μm 125I-plasminogen (A) and plasminogen activation (B) were assessed as described in Materials and Methods. In B, the no-cell control is the plasminogen activation reaction performed in the absence of cells. We have shown previously that the number of molecules of plasminogen-bound/PC12 cells at 37°C is not decreased at 4°C (Parmer et al., 2000).
