Combined in situ hybridization and immunocytochemistry verifies that D2 and D3 immunoreactivities (IRs) are found in neurons that coexpress transcripts encoding these proteins. In situ hybridization is illustrated in the left panels (A, C, E, G), and immunocytochemistry is illustrated in the right panels (B, D, F, H). Transcripts encoding D2 (A) and D2 immunoreactivity (B) are found in the same neurons. A sense probe (control; C) does not label D2-immunoreactive neurons (D).
