Mitochondrial phospholipid carbon chain composition from A. islandica populations ranked from shortest- to longest-lived, in (A) gills and (B) mantle tissues. Letters denote significant (p ≤ 0.05) differences between populations for each carbon chain class: DMA, dimethyl acetals; SFA, saturated fatty acids; MUFA, monounsaturated fatty acids; NMI, non-methylene-interrupted fatty acids; PUFA, polyunsaturated fatty acids. The line delimits peroxidation-resistant (below) and peroxidation-sensitive (above) carbon chains. Samples sizes can be found in Supplementary Table S1.
