AUR induces expression of genes encoding antioxidant enzymes. (A–D) SN4741 cells were incubated in media containing different concentrations (0, 0.5 or 1 μM) of rotenone (Rot) or MPP+ (0, 50, 75 or 100 μM), with or without pretreatment for 1 h with 10 μM AUR or DMSO. NRF2 protein expression was determined by Western blotting after 24 h (A) or 6 h (C) of drug treatment. The band intensity of NRF2 was measured using the ImageJ program (B,D). (E–H) Expression of mRNA for NRF2 target antioxidant enzymes (E,F) and GSH recycling-related genes (G,H) were assessed after a 24 h drug treatment using qPCR.
