(A) Black body power absorbed (blue) and electrical power (red) extracted by the photovoltaic cell. (B) Thermophotovoltaic (TPV) efficiency at different emitter temperatures. The maximum efficiency is 29.1% at an emitter temperature of 1,207 °C. Results from our experiment are compared with similar results reported by Bechtel Bettis Inc. (42). Our results present the maximum thermophotovoltaic efficiency reported in the literature.
