The promoter activity and mRNA level of prtR in the ΔKH-S1 mutant. (A) Expression of PprtR-lacZ in PAK and the ΔKH-S1 mutant. The bacteria were grown to an OD600 of 0.5, and then treated with ciprofloxacin at indicated concentrations for 3 h, followed by the β–galactosidase assay. ∗∗∗p < 0.001 by Student’s t-test. (B) PAK, ΔKH-S1 and the complemented strain were grown to an OD600 of 0.8–1.0 at 37∘C with or without 0.016 μg/ml ciprofloxacin.
