Summary of potential rapid signaling mechanisms of aldosterone in the DCT. The nonbiased proteomics data were combined with data from immunoblotting experiments and current literature to generate a simplified hypothetical signaling pathway for rapid aldosterone effects in DCT cells. GPR30 and EGFR are involved in mediating some of the rapid effects of aldosterone, but a role for the MR, the other seven transmembrane receptors (7TMR), or matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) requires further investigation.
