PCA protected rats against Lieber-DeCarli diet-induced alcoholic liver injury. Rats were fed either a normal diet (ND) or a Lieber-DeCarli diet (ALD) alone or in combination with PCA: (a) serum ALT levels, (b) serum AST levels, (c) serum TC levels, (d) serum TG levels, (e) liver TC levels, and (f) liver TG levels; (g) liver tissue sections were stained with H&E. Scale bar = 100 μm. The experimental groups subjected to H&E staining were as follows: ND+PCA, ND+PCA (20 mg/kg), ALD; ALD+PCA (10 mg/kg), and ALD+PCA (20 mg/kg). The data are presented as the mean ± SD (n = 10). ∗∗ P < 0.01 and P < 0.05 compared with ND; ## P < 0.01 and # P < 0.05 compared with ALD.
