Figure 3. — Effects of EA on the levels of IL-6, IFN-γ, and IL-4 in the L4–L5 spinal cord of formalin-treated rats as determined by ELISA (n = 16). Compared with control group, the levels of IL-6 and IFN-γ were significantly increased in model group, while the level of IL-4 was remarkably reduced. Pre-EA and post-EA effectively blocked the increased levels of IL-6 and IFN-γ induced by formalin injection, upregulated the level of IL-4. Data were expressed as Mean ± SD. ^#P<0.05 compared with control group; *P<0.05 compared with model group; ^&P<0.05 compared with post-EA group. EA: electroacupuncture.
